In the Belly of Forever

The unspeakably large

Universe

    wears the imprint of

all the passion

my slight being can hold.

The Bang went, and I,

still unmade,

went along, and there,

in the belly of Forever,

you too.

We are

pinpoints on end,

inconsequential atoms

when alone.

The electrons of these words

are too lazy and soft

to be taken seriously,

but the Universe is dilute

compared to the white Gravity

of my Love.

Listen (Without your mouth moving)

Draw life out as flame from air

and wood; let our listening

be a life created

by our endeavor to truly hear

the speaking behind the speech.

Part the walls of all the barriers

we create; let your hard labors

fulfil the staggering cries

for more love

in the world.

Pull on the clothes of peace

and patience; real love never comes

without vigilance or even

regrets.   Listen

without your mouth moving.

Breathe.  The fire is lit.

Bid it declare more light

everywhere.

Almighty

No matter who is pregnant,

nor how, within

the chalice of her body

the match is struck,

alight, and there blooms

the unspeakable goddess

Almighty

in a tiny cake

of cells.

ECLIPSE

Eclipse

the hate out of our

collective hearts,

Moon.

We are waiting, shimmering

in the crescent shadows

of hope.

We are in a profound

totality

where sadness and fear are

living shadows

in the spirits of the people

so invisible there is no map

to shield them.

Grant the ones fainting

on the margins of

your town, your

nation,

the promise of being seen

before the roiling darkness

unmeasures

the light behind their

biding eyes.

This Hazy Path

Even if I walk down the thin gray road

of dementia, I will always recall

that I loved you.

Even you reading this now,

I might love you too, ambling

this hazy path.

I might remember kindnesses

we never got to do

for each other.

It takes the fading people like me

to say, right now, we don’t have

to make enemies of each other…

the gray will dissolve our differences

into a gradual peace.
